Cunfin

Cunfin is a small village in the Aube department (Champagne-Ardenne region) and is part of the Troyes district. Cunfin has 25 hectares d’Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Champagne. The church is located at an altitude of 257 meters and is well worth a visit.

Cunfin was long regarded as one of the densest forests where druids regularly retreated. Gallo-Roman tombs were found in the cemetery. The village became known because it was a stopover for Saint Bernard de Clairvaux on his journey from Molesme to Clairvaux. He would have done two miraculous healings.

In 1846 the village had 1252 inhabitants. At the low point, the number of inhabitants dropped to 187. The active community is doing everything it can to bind young people to the village. The number of inhabitants has increased slightly in recent years.
